Writing code was never the only thing within the job. It was the most visible part, so it’s easy to think that’s what we were paid for.

The job has always been understanding the problem, talking to people, figuring out what not to build, making trade-offs, reviewing, mentoring, and owning what happens after it ships. Agents can write a lot of the code now, and that’s fine. Everything around it still needs someone who cares, I have experienced it at my job, if you don’t have clear rules and read the code, things start to drift away real fast, and that part just got a lot more important.
